The year of putting things in order: reading is established, we tackle rules that are written but not heard.
In CE2, a child of 8 years old most often reads fluently. They decode less and less: they recognise words, and their attention is freed to understand what they read.
It is also the year when automatisms become decisive. We set down additions, subtractions and especially multiplications; we discover division; we complete the tables with 6, 7, 8 and 9. Our CE2 exercises to print therefore aim at two things: fixing rules that sound similar, and making calculation sure enough so that it no longer hinders problem solving. Each activity, on paper or on screen, belongs to one of these three domains.
The small words that the ear does not separate, "a" and "à" at the forefront. This is where a large part of the CE2 mistakes occur.
After the present tense studied in CE1 (around 7-8 years old), the child learns to move a sentence in time: yesterday, today, tomorrow.
Numbers go beyond one thousand, operations are set up in columns, and division makes its entrance.

One French page: complete four sentences with "a" or "à", conjugate "finir" in the present tense, then rewrite a sentence in the future tense — "tomorrow, I will leave". Three new things this year: written multiplication, conversions, and division.
Our printable CE2 maths exercises in PDF start from a simple observation: at 8 years old, errors rarely come from reasoning, they come from setting up the problem. A misaligned digit, a forgotten carry, and 23 × 4 becomes wrong even though the child knew what to do. That is why the workbook asks to set up the operations, not just give the result: keeping the column properly aligned is an exercise in itself.
Conversions follow the same logic. 1 m = 100 cm, 1 kg = 1,000 g, 1 h = 60 min, 1 € = 100 cents: four benchmarks to know by heart, which are then used in all measurement problems.
In the PDF, all this fits on a single maths page: two multiplications to set up, four conversions, and a money problem. On screen, each concept has its own workbook. Words that sound the same, and three tenses to distinguish.
Our printable French exercises CE2 follow a simple idea: one rule at a time, on short sentences. Homophones first. "a" or "à"? The trick is in one sentence: if you can replace it with "avait" (had), it’s the verb, so "a" without an accent. The principle is always the same, only the replacement word changes: "est" becomes "était", "et" becomes "et puis", "ou" becomes "ou bien", "sont" becomes "étaient" and "son" becomes "mon".
Then conjugation. The present tense continues, with -ir verbs like "finir" and their endings in -issons, -issez, -issent which always surprise. The future tense arrives: rewrite a sentence starting with "demain" (tomorrow). The imperfect tense completes the set. Alongside, the child works on agreement, plurals, word types and synonyms. The PDF offers one page; the on-screen workbooks cover each rule one by one.
If your child is moving up from CE1 (7-8 years old) and some basics remain fragile, going back doesn’t hurt: printable CE1 exercises review the present tense and plurals calmly, and this revision is often more effective than a painful CE2 exercise. What matters in CE2 is not the number of pages done, but how they are offered.
Have them explain their method. At 8 years old, the child can say how they did it. "Why did you put an accent?" is better than a correction: by verbalising, they stabilise the rule on their own.
Short and regular rather than long and rare. Fifteen minutes, a few times a week. One page abandoned at the right moment is better than three pages finished in tears.
Separate content from form. If the reasoning is good but the borrowing (carrying) is forgotten, say it: "you chose the right operation."
One multiplication table at a time. Two minutes in the car, two minutes before dinner: that’s how 6, 7, 8 and 9 get installed — and they will be used every day in CM1 (9-10 years old).

Yes, it’s one of the most common mistakes in CE2: the two words sound exactly the same, nothing in the ear separates them. Give them a unique test, always the same: replace with "avait" (had). If the sentence holds, it’s the verb, so "a" without accent. Repeated on a few sentences per day, the reflex installs in a few weeks.
It’s the goal of the year, but they are not learned all four at the same time. One table at a time, a few minutes per day, keeping in mind that 7 × 8 and 8 × 7 give the same result: this almost halves what needs to be memorised.
No, they come in CM1. In CE2, we stay with whole numbers, written operations in columns and the discovery of division. No need to get ahead: better a sure written multiplication than a fraction glimpsed too early.
